Random thoughts on the garbage that is now Doctor Who

Someone wrote there is no denying that Matt Smith and David Tennant's time in Doctor Who was a golden era. Here is my response:

Not only will I flat out deny it, I'll go further and state that Matt Smith's Error ruined Doctor Who leading to the cancellation we just got. Matt is a good even great actor...in other things and certainly in DW he had a few good performances but for the most part, he overdoes it, acts like silly loon and has the worst scripts until Capaldi, some of Flux for Jodie and the horrid Disney Error Era scripts for Ncuti, the worst we can find. Matt's time in the show was helmed by the worst show runner in the history of not just DW but all sci fi action adventure, the classic WHO hater Moffat. So no, Matt's time is not golden at all. It had a few good stories here and there but mostly garbage and crap. Moffat's main idea was that it "was just DW' and that "I mock anyone that takes DW seriously" and I could go on and on about how wrong the man was and is about the show, the character, the premise and how he hates DW. I can also go on about how awful the slow slide from The 11th Hour (really from Journey's End to be fair) to Reality Bore is really about Moffat's destruction of DW, knowingly or not (maybe he just has bad taste and makes bad choices) but you get the idea. No, no, and no. David's time at his first tenure was fantastic but it is Chris E that did the best season and the first four seasons of DW were great, not perfect but great so if you want a golden time, it was 2005 to MIDNIGHT, though I'd state that the true gold was from 1963 to about 1982 where we had consistent (again, not perfect) entertaining humor, sci fi, slight messaging, fun and different, quirky characters, and a lot of action and adventure with enough time in each story to build up our love of the characters---even the guest characters. So no Matt's time was not golden, it was rotten. Capaldi's scripts were even worse. S10 and s11 were good stabs at trying again to be different, unique and even good and mostly worked. Half of season 12 worked (NOT the first half but maybe the middle toward the end but not the Timeless Crap and not the FUG Doctor). Fux didn't work. AND RTD back was a bad mistake: he was burned out on DW in 2008 with Stolen Earth and Journey's End (read his book and you'll see what I mean) and had writer block. AN UNEARTHLY CHILD to about EARTHSHOCK were the golden years. The prime top was ROSE to MIDNIGHT. Done and done. DW IS done and Moffat is to blame (and maybe a bit of Matt Smith due to his inability to convince when the scripts were bad; every other actor before and after him could convince, even Ncuti when the scripts were downright awful). As for the Doc's character: Moffat got that wrong from the start and RTD2 made Doc 14 a wimp and Doc 15 a total racist who hates white males and tries to kill them. your post is just plain wrong and offensive.

THE DOCTOR WHO is dead. Just face it, admit it. Having RTD, burned out, writer blocked show runner who left because he was out of ideas and creativity ---in 2008---write ONE story to be aired in 2026 (a Christmas story is going to be the sheet most of them have been anyway) isn't the show back. Retroactively, they've ruined ALL DW: three men who are haters: Moffat hates the classic series, RTD hates anyone different than him, and Chibs hates the fans. DW is dead.

Someone wrote that the BBC is making a big mistake with DOCTOR WHO. Here is my response:
They made many over the years: wiping tapes from Docs 1,2 and 3; forcing JNT to stay on when he wanted to leave; letting Eric Saward be script editor, letting the show continue after Colin's first and second season; cancelling it when it got better, letting Moffat on as show runner (he hates classic Who and has made it very well known), letting Chibs ruin the continuity which they probably knew nothing about, taking money from DW and funding it to pay for other shows like Eastenders (a miserable show about death and nasty people), not heeding Chris E's complaints about RTD and his gang, letting David resume as a NEW Doctor (14) in miserable scripts, and finally letting RTD2 back when they had to know (or maybe another mistake was they didn't know) that he had already burned out from DW and had writer block way back after Stolen Earth (all one had to do was read his book about writing to realize this). Now, their next mistake is letting RTD2 (who got the show cancelled off Disney) write ANOTHER story and a CHRISTMAS one at that (those are rarely good at all). The BBC does not deserve a show or premise like DW. They've never fully appreciated it or cared about it other than for it to make money off the merchandising. RTD is the biggest disappointment: so great from 2005 to 2008's MIDNIGHT and so awful from 2023 to 2025 (and presumably his xmas awfulness in 2026). How can a man who was so successful in bringing back DW, be the total nail in its coffin in 2003-2026? Maybe he's grieving, maybe's far too dark and grim and godless for his own good and maybe he's just bitter about life in general. His gay dramas are good but they're ALL about nasty people doing nasty things to themselves and their own lives and the lives of their families and friends. He's far too disappointing and negative in his false premises and life ideas to let near DW ever again and yet they're doing it. Hopefully the Big Finish audios, the BBC audios, and the comics and the novels will continue but I'm guessing the BBC might find a way to mess those up for all of us, too. New ideas? There's tons of them out there. How bout not mess up what was great in the first place? How bout hire new people? trouble is no one wants to go near this career killing show.

Some said I was trying to gate keep DW in one of the catch words that deflectors use. Here is my response:
you obviously can't read or understand text. I loved DW in 2005 to 2008's MIDNIGHT and a few from there to the end of it. It has nothing to do with 21st Century WHO. It has to do with the lack of quality in a majority of its scripts and how it is handled and the false premises it's foisted upon us and a sociopathic, psychopathic set of Doctors (11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 who is also racist). It has to do with illogical scripts, cartoonish characters like River Song and Belinda, outlandish illogical senseless arcs like the Conrad arc. Maybe you like to watch things that insult your intelligence and don't make sense but I would like my entertainment to somehow make SOME semblance of sense and feel fresh. DW hasn't been that in a consistent manner since 2008 and I'm not gate keeping. That would be you trying to shut me up. I won't. You can't. It's not a matter of personal taste: the flaws in the last five years of scripts or longer are evident, and primarily factual---they normally don't make sense. Look into my reviews if you dare---and others as well---plenty of people point out all the stuff that's moronic over the last 15 years and the stuff that's basic writing that they got wrong (Cybermen in the water? Check. Unlikable and unreal companions? Check. Sexually loose hetero females? Check. Unfunny comedy? Check. Villains that do things that don't make sense? Check. Returning villains changed beyond recognition? Check. Heavy handed social moralizing toward white males while letting non white others get off Scot free? Check. Fantasy instead of sci fi? Check. No rules for even the fairy tale tone? Check. and on and on it goes. You can say it's taste...sure is funny when some cannot see the glaring and continuous, consistent flaws in EVERY script from 2023 to 2025 and before that in many, many others. DW is in my blood, too, but I don't like to see it abused for hatred (and it has been used for that) and/or misrepresented as something other than a socially relevant, almost realistic in some quarters while unreal events happen around the characters, and a great sci fi action adventure. It's become a bore, a joke, a silly romp and a parody of itself while giving us some of the largest false premises (Nigeria, for example is one of the most homophobic places on earth, yet the Doctor, THIS Doctor, feels safe there!?) ever presented on screen. I love Diversity and representation and social issues, too, but they have to be handled delicately in scripts and that's NOT what RTD2 has done. Nor others along the way. They made a total mess out of it. They don't even understand basic relationships (Jodie's Doctor and Yaz are supposed to be girlfriends, yet when she's about to regenerate, 13 kicks Yaz out of the TARDIS to go die alone in the usual modern series regen BS and...Yaz lets her and goes to let her die alone; then goes to a companion AAA meeting because the Doc's life has made ALL his companions' lives WORSE---that's bad writing no matter how you look at it and we ignore that for the "thrill" of seeing some of them again like Ian and Mel and Peri and Jo). ANYONE with any kind of taste would know that DW has, at least in the three past years but longer than that really, been off the radar of the public at large, mostly because it stopped being intelligent, thoughtful, entertaining, funny, realistic where it could be, fun, exciting, scary, dangerous, relevant, meaningful, enjoyable, thrilling, innovative, creative, original, fresh, well paced, inspirational, and well just plain good in a consistent manner. Over time, it became inconsistent during Moffat and Chibs but when it returned with RTD2, it became consistently bad with maybe 4 good stories out of some 16 or more and I'd say it is more like 2 or 3 good stories and BOOM is not one of them. Characters die and return, arcs make no sense, returning characters do and say things they never would, UNIT becomes a joke, Conrad's story makes no sense, and on and on. DW is junk TV now and junk, rather then be recycled (Moffat into Chibs into RTD2) needs to be on a pile in a junkyard.

ome likes that Bad Wolf is still making DW, which it is not. One special upcoming is not still making a full TV show. Here is my response.
Bad is the key word here. What you deflectingly call spam is reasoned thought about a show that went from 42 episodes a season to 8 to 1. If you think 1 Xmas special is a season, maybe it's you who are just not facing the truth? How is the show continuing to be made by Bad Wolf? One story in 2026? Wow. Just wow. I'm amazed. DW has failed, BBC has failed, RTD2 has failed, Disney had failed, and Bad Wolf has failed. The sooner it's out of Bad Wolf's hands the better. Pity the same can't be said for the BBC. Wish world should be about wishing the BBC would sell the rights to some company that knows how to make good TV, good sci fi, good action adventure, and just, well, something good on a consistent basis. All they need is someone with bravery, a knowledge of good TV scripting and show running and a feel for new ideals in science and social issues who knows how to get that across without alienating audiences of all kinds rather than excluding them. DW is just about unwatchable the last three years. BAD wolf DW was just BAD. A huge let down as RTD did some of the best DW stories every made under his show running and if he can be believed in his book (when he was truthful, back when he was honest), RTD had to rewrite most of this scripts himself (though I do NOT believe his lie that he never had to rewrite Moffat's scripts; when he wrote the book, RTD knew that he could not tell the public the had to rewrite the upcoming next show runner, the awful Moffat but one look at Moffat pre show runner Moffat scripts and show runner Moffat scripts one can tell that Moffat under RTD was rewritten and kept in check but under his own show running, he muffed it all up and made DW a stupid, illogical, shallow mess).

Here's my take on this new Doctor Who news:
1-Disney wanted DW, the British show, but the BBC allowed it to be even too "woke" for Disney! I don't mind "woke" if it's well written; we need diversity, representation, and social issues, it's sort of what sci if is about but it needs to be handled delicately and intelligently which it was not.
2-Gatwa started out a strong Doctor but by season one's second to fourth episode became a huge cry baby pussy cat wimp. Everyone seemed stronger than he did, everyone solved issues but him, everyone did this or that and his Doctor did very, very little.
3-There were articles and interviews early on that showed friction between Gatwa and RTD early on. It seemed to do with how Gatwa cursed on set and in public.
4-some of the conflict also seemed to be about Gatwa bringing an entourage onto the set and maybe smoking?
5-One of the producers, maybe Jane or Julie, said something along the lines of, "I'm not sure we did the right thing" and "I hope we did the right thing" before the bi generation aired. She had doubts and she was right to.
6-Early interviews with Gatwa revealed that he was unsure of his acting as the Doctor and unsure he was given the right direction by the director.
7-Gatwa seemed perplexed by some of the story beats and aliens as revealed in behind the scenes stuff where he laughs at events that happen in the scripts.
8-the blame is not on Disney, and not even Gatwa, though he did tell fans to touch grass while the lady who played Belinda (Vashta Neruada?) told us "they" didn't care about fans who would leave and if they made any of the fans angry and they left.
9-the blame is on RTD and the BBC, hands down.
10-I don't believe the show hasn't been cancelled. One special in 2026 written yet again by failed show runner RTD is not cause for celebration. It's cause to put this show to rest for good forever.
11-Some corners of the fandom are in total denial, blaming Trump and the Maga crowd and the Kimmel cancellation resulting in fans quitting Disney Plus. They think the show is still going on.
12-The BBC believes or says that the show will go on in 2027 somehow but I doubt them and doubt it will be that soon if at all.
13-I'm done posting on DW fan groups because the fans are completely toxic and libelous. Instead of defending their opinion and their liking the garbage that some of us hate, they attack the person in awful ways. They don't defend because deep down they know they would have to defend garbage DW.
14-DW fandom has corners of it that would defend any garbage as the only fandom that would protect junk (though Star Trek fans are heading that way too, defending the horrid Pick Hard Season Two and the nearly as bad Strange New Worlds season three) rather than admit the show has lost its way or is helmed by a talentless and miserable man who once claimed "Lots of fans come up to me and admit that they've Med to my work."
15-RTD says he was censored. Did he mean now or did he mean back in 2005? He did a great job in 2005 to 2008's MIDNIGHT. If he was censored then, good on ya, whoever did that. If he was censored now, can you imagine if he weren't?
16-Almost forgot. Gatwa played, as written, a racist Doctor. In the fiction, the fictional Doctor feels accepted in Nigeria, the most homophobic place on Earth. The Doctor lets two black villains go in THE STORY AND THE ENGINE and lets a non white female accomplice go free in that INTERGALACTIC song episode while torturing a white male toward killing him. In LUCKY DAY, Conrad's story makes NO sense and the Doc is largely missing....until he tells Conrad, that Conrad lied (he didn't; he was just very mistaken) and that he will put the white male in prison for life AND the Doc relishes that Conrad will die at age 46 and he tells him that. That's a racist, evil spirited Doctor. Amid many other false premises, Moffat and RTD2 foisted on us, the Doc is NOT a total mean spirited racist killer, nor does he lie all the time or even a majority of the time, nor does he have bad taste liking bow ties and fezzes. Nor does he need someone to "stop him."
I will only post about DW here and on my blog. And comments will be deactivated. DW the show and the fandom do NOT deserve my passion for the show and for its fandom and all things DW and they surely don't deserve an honest opinion about how I feel about what awfulness has been committed against the show, its premise, its plots and its actors by Moffat (mostly), Chibs (a bit) and RTD2 (a lot). DW is dead and is still somewhat walking (once a year right now, if we can believe the BBC).
As for the WAR BETWEEN THE DISNEY LAND and the BB SEA, mini special? As it was to be the first spin off in a series of franchise mini series, and is now the first and the last to be on Disney of a whole DW multiverse, I could care less. It looks cliche, boring, and stupid. And I could care less for what RTD has done to UNIT, making it a mockery of unreal and comic book characters that just do not work. As for Piper being the Doctor in future and/or David returning? No, no, and no. I'd be done if that happened. I hate that idea. It just will not work.
I'm close to being done with DW for good.
