    agree 100 percent. I don't know who was making those choices and I understand why they did that (to perpetuate the IMO boring and awful ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE) but it nearly ruins the entire show for me. Archie crying over Edith's slipper was one of the saddest piece of TV I've ever seen after a much beloved character who we watched for years and years died off screen. Sure Carol did a great acting job there but was it worth it to leave such an empty void for the viewers and the characters. I think Gloria even says something in ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE or the pilot for GLORIA, "It's not the same here without mom." Sure, Mike might have had a roving eye but not really and he really was made to sell to us that despite his differences with Gloria and Archie, he loved her and loved Archie. For him to give up his marriage and son and go off to a retreat with a student is one of the all time biggest blunders in TV history. Shame on them. For both killing off...

  ALL IN THE FAMILY-season five and six   ALL’S FAIR This is probably the best of the latest ones I’ve watched, mostly due to Edith’s fair fight methods. Archie hates more of Edith’s family even the ones that like him. The episode is funny but not hilarious and in fact, none of this batch is hilarious. It also ends without a resolution, which I hate but understand.   THE JEFFERSONS MOVE UP The only good parts of this is Edith’s good bye to Louise and a bit of Lionel but once the Jeffersons leave and we do not see Edith or anyone from ALL IN THE FAMLY, I was done. I was out of there. THE JEFFERSONS is not a funny show and this pilot is tedious. The characters are only funny when interacting with those from ALL IN THE FAMILY.     MIKE MAKES HIS MOVE An okay episode mostly due to Archie’s reactions but nothing memorable really.  ALL IN THE FAMILY-the rest of season four and the start of season five “Louise, we can have another.” “You better call parcel post. I’ve stopped delivering.” “I don’t want to hear this!”   “Listen to that. I ain’t used that word in three years!”   “So long there, Wheezy.” So, I am tired of doing these one ep at a time or even two or three at a time and may end up stopping all reviewing anyway as no one seems to appreciate, want, or like them anyway. I binged the rest of season four over a few nights and couldn’t help but start season five as I think AITF gets far better as the seasons move on. I think five through eight are some of the best. Nine and all the rest afterward should NEVER have been made. They’re not funny at all really, maybe mildly and GLORIA was comfort TV or IS now but boring. ARCHIE’S PLACE was a waste of time.   ALL IN THE FAMILY-ARCHIE AND THE KISS and HENRY’S FAREWELL A number of funny lines but overall mediocre episodes with few laughs, certainly not terrible but not the more memorable episodes. Even the first appearance of George Jefferson isn’t all that memorable other than to prove that black people can feel love for a brother, too. In many ways, Louise hasn’t been in the show all the much either and when she is it is either silly or very, very short or both. Lionel, too, though in it more often isn’t in every episode. Irene and Frank are also proving liabilities. Their scenes together have no spark and aren’t funny. Frank, alone, is, again, obnoxious and I found myself as annoyed by him as Archie was, which is probably not supposed to be the idea. In KISS, Archie buying a horrid statue to replace the one he manipulated Frank into taking back (though Irene and Frank as just as guilty as Archie of taking something back   that they gave, what used to be called Indian Giver or ...

  ALL IN THE FAMILY We’re Having A Heat Wave We’re Still Having A Heat Wave Edith Finds An Old Man The Games Bunkers Play   Okay, four good episodes, mostly. I have to categorically state that I found Frank Lorenzo like no Italian I’ve ever met…and I met lots of them. He’s very annoying, not even marginally funny, and I realize why he only stuck around one season. Irene fares a bit better and she stays until season 6, sort of. I never found them particularly funny or even interesting but I think they were a way to spice and shake things up but it only partially worked. The rapport with everyone rises above the past seasons. HEAT WAVE and STILL have a good idea behind them: a heat wave and Archie’s prejudices against women doing mechanical things and men doing the cooking, with expected jokes and results, some of these shocking by today’s standards (Archie once more gives us his thoughts, as he AND Henry Jefferson collude with each other to keep a Puerto Rican husba...
