A NOTE ABOUT ALL IN THE FAMILY and ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE


  agree 100 percent. I don't know who was making those choices and I understand why they did that (to perpetuate the IMO boring and awful ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE) but it nearly ruins the entire show for me. Archie crying over Edith's slipper was one of the saddest piece of TV I've ever seen after a much beloved character who we watched for years and years died off screen. Sure Carol did a great acting job there but was it worth it to leave such an empty void for the viewers and the characters. I think Gloria even says something in ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE or the pilot for GLORIA, "It's not the same here without mom." Sure, Mike might have had a roving eye but not really and he really was made to sell to us that despite his differences with Gloria and Archie, he loved her and loved Archie. For him to give up his marriage and son and go off to a retreat with a student is one of the all time biggest blunders in TV history. Shame on them. For both killing off Edith and making Mike a cheating cad to leaves. I prefer to think of those episodes as happening in another universe and everything after the last ALL IN THE FAMILY episode happening in that universe. Wasn't crazy about the show after Mike and Gloria left anyway (and yes I realize that was in ALL and there were a few "visits" to and from California which were okay but....reallly?). Really, ALL, why?

  DOCTOR WHO: THE STAR BEAST "I hate that."   Okay, the opening is pure RTD DW and it’s not bad. The one thing I can say that makes Donna look stupid is giving all her money away so her husband can keep working. What a dope. He says it was for charity and who knows if charities are really on the up and up and all that money went where it should go. The humor is again, as in most of RTD, from the circumstances and the character relationships and so far, it doesn’t jar or unbalance the plot or the viewers. Nice start.   Donna is stupid. You can’t help others if you can’t help yourself.   And…yawn. UNIT. UFO news report. Yawn. Boring.   In a few short bursts of dialog, RTD makes it so that we instantly relike Donna, this Doctor, and Sylvia. And through Donna, her husband and Sylvia’s dialog, like this new Rose to boot. Things new DOCTOR WHO fans think that are sort of wrong and my response to the TEN MISTAKES video. What and why do new fans think these things?

 Here is my response to a video "THE TEN MISTAKES OF DOCTOR WHO by show runners who admit them" or something like that. Good editing on the video but this lady and her mistakes irk me. She seems to think that Time Lord is something that was always a part of DOCTOR WHO> it was not. Regeneration, 12 lives, the planet Gallifrey, two hearts, and most of the current things most fans think are and have always been a part of Doctor Who most didn't start until SIX years after the show began and a majority didn't start until the 11th season, 11 YEARS IN. New fans need to get their history right.  First more history:  At first, the Doctor wasn't touted as a Time Lord or even an alien. Nor was Susan. Sort of. The first "regeneration" wasn't called that. It was called a rejuvenation, suggesting Troughton was a younger Hartnell.  The second "regeneration" was just a forced change by the Time Lords who made the Doctor change his appearance. Neither of

  DOCTOR WHO-BOOM  spoilers Hmmm. Let’s see. SWAT is looking really great tonight. High stakes, intrapersonal relationship issues, huge action, realistic people and characters, and followed by FIRE COUNTRY and then the always excellent BLUE BLOOD.   After last week’s two episode disaster, if this week’s DOCTOR WHO is awful, I have some tough choices to make about giving up on 2024 DOCTOR WHO and a character I’ve followed for five decades (and not just on TV: in comics, books, audios, and role playing) and an actor I really admire and love. Let’s see if this is written by RTD if I should go into it wary. Oh, wait, this is Moffat’s? Gosh, hell naw.   Okay, it looked more serious and I can’t deal with the 6 minute to 8 minute of advertising on watching live TV so I guess I’ll give this torturous Doctor Who show another go, another try.
