Burke: “I
think we all agree that nothing is permanent.”
Carolyn: “Not
even death.”
Burke and
Vicki both get IDKs. Burke also gets this: “I don’t even know what I do know!” Vicki gets an almost I don’t exactly know,
too.
David tells
Burke the way to his room when Burke carries home and to it: straight ahead and
then turn left at the corner. THEN, we see Vicki enter David’s room, which from
the hallway angle we see is on the right.
The first
minutes or so have some light issues as Carolyn comes down to the foyer and
Vicki and Burke return from the Old House with David.
Burke drinks
cognac. Roger drinks, too.
Johnson, the
killer with a big mouth, is not seen but is talked about. She makes hot
chocolate for David and also stays with him for a bit.
Roger and
Burke working together to protect David is amazingly warm and clever. David
gets an IDK and IDU while Burke gets another IDK, too.
Downstairs,
Vicki gets another IDK.

As Burke carries David in to Collinwood,
he tells a protesting David, that
this will make up for all the weight
lifting he's been doing. It’s very
VERY dark in the studio set and then
...the lights go on.
David tells him his room is straight
ahead and turn left at the corridor.
Vicki tells Carolyn about Guthrie's
death. And...the facts seem to change.
Vicki tells her Guthrie was pinned in the
car and burned to death whereas
before Joe relayed info that Guthrie died
instantly. Burke tries to figure
things out with Carolyn about Laura,
"I don't even know what I know," he
says in Lou Costello style. They talk
about values undergoing a change.
Carolyn tells Burke about Laura,
"She might do anything to any one of us."
David wants his mother, he doesn't like
living here any longer with
everyone watching him all the time.
Laura's backed into a corner and has
never backed away from a fight. Roger
returns and already heard the bad
news. He thanks Burke for bringing David
back and isn't even that upset
that he was not informed about the
séance. While Roger talks I think we
see a studio light.
The two, Burke and Roger, agree to put
their differences aside; Roger
tells Burke it is his vendetta but they
will put it on intermission. Burke
tells them that nothing is permanent.
Carolyn adds, "Not even death."
David has prophesied his own death by
fire...but has he? If it was the
other David, then it was the ghost
telling them the future or the past.
David gets cocoa from Mrs. Johnson but
she's unseen, thank goodness. The
harpy. Burke and Roger, in a way strange
scene, go see David and plan to
get him away from Laura without his
knowing. Burke will take David on a
fishing trip to a fishing lodge on the
Canadian border where they
muskiees, canoes, and a sea plane. Vicki
realizes from the newspaper that
the other David died 100 years ago
tonight. But...see above and below...a
good episode...I like it when former
enemies unite for a good cause and
Burke and Roger play it to the hilt,
Louis Edmonds is actually very
likable again and more so than ever
before as he genuinely seems to care
for David...one thing: if he was told,
maybe he could have been with
Guthrie and maybe Guthrie would have been
spared or something...
