Did I survive the Doctor Who RTD2 "era" season one, 42, 14 on Disney Plus?

What can one expect from a series that cannot even get what season it is right? One? 41? 14? Zero? Going by quality we can call this zero.

Church on Ruby Road: 8/10

Space Babies 0/10

Devil's Chord 0/10

Boom 1/10

73 Yards 1/10

Dot and Bubble 8/10

Rogue 8/10

Legend of Ruby Road 4/10

Empire of Death (even the title is not original; hey, can I give negative numbers?): 0/10

I survived the bad idea of killing off Adric.

I survived the horrid TRIAL OF A TIME LORD season. And the following TIME AND THE RANI, PARADISE TOWERS, THE HAPPINESS PATROL and the dire DRAGONFIRE which introduced Ace in the worst way.

I survived DIMENSIONS IN TIME, CURSE OF FATAL DEATH, and the dire SCREAM OF THE SHAKLA. Paul Cornell should be ashamed of himself how rudely he told Nick Briggs that DW would return but Nick Briggs would not be the one to bring it back, Paul himself would. After he said that, he wrote that crap SHAKLA shite.

I survived four seasons of utter gutter trash TORCHWOOD.

I survived two Doctors who never felt like THE Doctor from a showrunner who publicly claimed Classic DW was a bad show made at a time when other shows were better than it. I survived the sociopathic stalker Matt Smith Doctor and the insecure, cranky pants, jealous unlikable stalker Capaldi Doctor.

Moffat never knew the character of the Doctor and got the Doctor all wrong, among other things.

I survived Moffat, a show runner who claimed the classic series was a bad series in a time when most other series around it were good and who claimed the actors in it should never have gotten their equity card and who once walked out on Big Finish because he could not write for the current Doctor (BF didn't yet have Paul McGann but eventually got him).

I survived the ill advised Timeless Child BS and the boring FUG Doctor and the replacement Doctor, the War Doctor when Chris E decided not to do the crap DAY OF THE DOCTOR, which I survived, too, it being the POS it was.

I survived the first half of season 12 of Chib's era. I survived the fake romance of Yaz and the Doctor, which never felt real and concluded with the two "lovers" abandoning each other at the end while one was dying.

I survived the Doctor companion AA meeting (poor William Russell, his last scene being one involving how the Doctor made companions' lives worse).

I survived River Song, Amy, Clara and the Padanostra Gang, all of them cartoon like characters the lowered the quality of Doctor Who in almost every way.

I survived Tegan thinking the Doctor sent her a toy Cyberman and HER causing all the trouble. I survived the awful way the Master was written in this show in almost every story in the new DW or modern DW.

I survived the same old, same old regeneration stance: a standing position after a huge, long boring, ill advised, often hypocritical and overly melodramatic speech which made us howl, "SHUT UP!"

I even survived the awful bi generation and the awful idea of having a former Doctor actor play a NEW incarnation that stays around while the next incarnation is around.

BUT so help me, I don't think I survived the stupid Space Babies, the inconsistent Devil's Chord, the faithless Boom, the illogic and lack of story in 73 Yards (it can't be far enough away so maybe it should be 1000 yards), the slow talk fest of Legend of Ruby Sunday and the kicker: the finale finish off of DW: the tepid, illogic, every scene a stinker Empire of Death (not even the title is original).

It was RTD2, the man who burned out and had writer block sometime after 2008's MIDNIGHT that did me in. He returned when in his books about writing he pretty much told the world he was out of DW ideas and had blockage and no more ideas for DW. I didn't survive the idea that his lazy writing would bring magic and fairy tale into DW. I didn't survive the idea that because he didn't want science fiction involved in this science fiction show, he would make it so that the Toymaker (who by the way would NEVER use a laser cannon to kill the Doctor....which BTW again, the Doctor should have died outright from that, Regeneration doesn't solve everything) magic infected the DW universe. That's just an excuse of lazy writing. He didn't want to, in his words, jump through hoops like in the past to explain things. So, fantasy and magic ruled the day but even those need some explanations and rules.

I do not think I survived the crap of last night where every line was bad, every scene was bad, every explanation was WTF and every "reveal" wasn't.

Sutek isn't the bringer of death to the Doctor (he kept him alive to find out a name he didn't know of a woman who should be dead but maybe wasn't and then got leashed), RTD IS.

I'll tell you what, let us watch a better show that has a faster pace, more coherent narrative, engaging fun characters, and escapism sci fi.  LET THE LIGHT SHINE!!!! PHOTON STANDS!
