BATMAN-81-THE JOKER’S LAST LAUGH

BATMAN-81-THE JOKER’S LAST LAUGH

For the second time a henchman is played by a handsome man, only this time he’s supposed to be a robot. The Joker employs two main robots and one at the bank giving out counterfeit bills. He’s also using a comic book company named Penthouse? What? Are we also to believe the Joker has placed not only a transmitter (a cufflink or a button is one thing and believable, just about) and a wire all around Gordon’s body to his leg? What’s more the plot, other than that, seems acceptable until Bruce Wayne seems to trust “Mr. Whiteface” to counterfeit money for him in a plot to capture Joker via Robin who has to do the Batfight on his own and he does pretty good until …he’s smashed into a table by the two robots at extra power. Bruce’s efforts to help are ridiculous and the whole bat fight falls apart. As for Bruce Wayne pretending he doesn’t know who Joker is? Does the movie here count as having happened? In that Bruce was kidnapped by Joker. Is there any continuity any longer? Robin’s predicament being pressed as a comic book into a comic book and with Joker making his robots force Bruce to do it…is a good one. Burt’s problem seems to have grown exponentially here and oh my, we get a good look at everything Burt Ward.

An okay episode but the show strains credibility and continuity by making us believe Joker believes Bruce Wayne. It seems as if Bruce and Joker NEVER met.

The scenes of Joker and his girl trying to find the Bat Cave are interesting enough. Love the little model and the note Batman leaves for him!
