2017 WONDER WOMAN movie (spoilers I guess) plus extra: 34 mistakes...in...

New Wonder Woman: afraid I can't give it my thumbs up. It was a bit of a mess. I honestly  know about the comics and I do know about the TV series and I do know something about movies and the structure of this was all over the place. The original WW storyline was NOT like this tepid 2017 movie. It could not really decide what it wanted to be. I'll tell you what it was. It was a place it safe movie. Because they want to promote sales in Europe, America was displaced from the movie...yes, a movie where the super heroine is supposed to wear a red, white and blue costume...she ...goes to the UK. We're saddled with lackluster characters besides the wonderful Chris Pine's Steve Trevor---he tries, even though he's saddled with cutesy dialog that is supposed to be funny but isn't really. There are three allies who are all clichés and not interesting. We also get an entire Xena arc played out as Diana (she's NEVER called Wonder Woman in the movie...at all) vs Ares, the god of war. Oh, and they moved the setting from WW2 to WW1 because, you know, the German enemies of freedom were less...you know, evil. Really. The movie plays it both ways: Steve tells Won...Diana that perhaps there are just bad men while Diana blames Ares for the enemy doing bad things. Can you see why they chose NOT to use the Nazis there? So that's a mess, too. The heroics are ...quite frankly, not exciting. I will take 1970s Wonder Woman's TV show antics over the super speed up effects of this disaster war movie. That's right, it's more a war movie than a super hero movie, except, of course for the required super climatic fight between "hero" and "villain". After which, Germans hug our lackluster trio: a Scottish singer, an American Indian and a Mid-Eastern guy (no kidding, those are the three). Etta Candy is British. Won...Diana never gets her full Wonder Woman costume or her plane but she gets an entire Xena back story and a full set of super powers that rival a god's. Literally. The movie also tries to be a fish out of water story that doesn't make much sense. The Paradise Island women should know all about the outside world but don't, making them and Diana seem...well, less innocent and more stupid. It wasn't even a good movie apart from being a Wonder Woman mess. I didn't enjoy it at all.

There's also this: that many mistakes in a big budget movie? Really? And it covers everything from production to why a major character didn't have to die!?

  1. From what I recall (don't make me watch this POS again, please!) Diana seems to kill without compunction (and remember, they're not Nazis, they're nice guys who just happen to be on the German side in WW1). She also strips an older German woman and leaves her in the woods to freeze to death, goes to a party AS the older woman and with a sword strapped to her back, and kills again and again. It's not the Germans' fault they're at war: it's all Ares' fault. Let's not make America the good guys or the woman a symbol of America because Europeans are jealous and hate America because it's so good there. Steve dies for no reason. And Wonder Woman is both stupid and knowledgeable. Wow, this movie can't be any worse. It has nothing a WW movie should have. Not one thing.
