VIP-87-VAL WHO CRIED WOLF

Image
VIP 87-VAL WHO CRIED WOLF   Jeffery Dean Morgan, pre-Supernatural, pre-The Walking Dead Neegan plays the dumbo former friend of a Jim Carey clone who he believes stole his material for his comedian career which took off and is in movies now. Scott is the name of the movie comedian and he is totally obnoxious and despite Quick and Natalie intitially laughing at him, he’s not funny (a lot like Jim Carey then).   There is a chase after the real threat maker (Jeffery’s Randall and his nasty girlfriend) that Val stops cold by believing it is a joke. Val’s girlfriend Maxine also appears and she and Val’s outfits and hair are outrageous.   Speaking of outrageous, Johnny’s outfit in two scenes is a see through shirt which is…well, no other way to say it, HOT. Quick and Johnny also appear shirtless in the last scene where Tasha is playing volleyball against Natalie and Kay. Kay turns out to be or act like a movie memorabilia addict.     ALL of Va...

BATMAN-97-THE WAIL OF THE SIREN

BATMAN-97-THE WAIL OF THE SIREN   OMG. I love this episode. It used to be my favorite and I worried before watching it, that it would not live up to the memory but it surpassed the memory. Joan Collins is always interesting to watch in whatever role she’s in but the far outdoes everything with her in it with Siren aka Lorelai Circe, who apparently is a famous singer anyway (so why does she need MORE money?).   Let’s get a few things out of the way. In the scene where Robin takes a call from Batgirl and he’s in the Bruce Wayne study, just before and during, first in long shot and then in close up, there is a large black thing hovering over Robin’s head. It looks like it might be part of the camera lens or something to do with the camera or mikes? It’s very noticeable in a series that almost never makes these mistakes.   The dialog here is enormously funny. Batgirl says, “Oh, Bruce if only you were more like Batman.”   Robin says, when he and Bat...

DARK SHADOWS 143

Image
DARK SHADOWS 143   David Ford plays a great haunted man. Sam Evans. Usually when we see the cottage from the outside, we don’t see the busy street in Collinsport. Here, we do.   David Hensey flubs when he is talking about the dream and the painting but recovers nicely and laughs at himself. Love him.   Sam gets a whooping SEVEN I DON’T KNOWS. Vicki (maybe two?) and David both get one and Vicki also gets an I KNOW as does Sam. Lt Dan Riley of the State Police shows up at Collinwood and shows them the effects that were salvaged from the fire and one is locket with a lock of hair Laura took from David when he was a baby. The picture inside looks nothing like David but a blond boy. Vicki remembers seeing Laura wearing the locket! Are there two? Liz distinctly says that is impossible. So…?   What I don’t get is why Sam gives Vicki the advice to forget the compelling state that made her want to take the painting and then later, the same state that ma...

SUPERMAN AND LOIS-PILOT (spoilers)

SUPERMAN AND LOIS-PILOT  SPOILERS This extra long opening is quite good IMO. Certainly far better than the recent travesties that were WONDER WOMAN 2017 and 1984. In any case, I always liked Tyler as Superman and found that once he appeared, the show SUPERGIRL was super…fluous. In fact, SUPERGIRL was far superior in every way to its present soap opera nonsense. ALL the CW shows started out great but degenerated into the POS they are now. I loved this pilot though and yet I won’t be fooled again…BATWOMAN had what I thought was one of the best pilots I had ever seen, to be followed up with some of the worst, overdrawn overlong, horrible episodes ever and this season is, if anything, even worse.   Why I liked this pilot of SUPERMAN AND LOIS: it’s heart warming without being sappy. It feels like a super hero version of HART TO HART. We hear and see how they met, briefly and instead of boring us, it gives us a sort of  brief history of Clark and Lois, and this p...
