DARK SHADOWS 590
DARK SHADOWS 590
“I was thinking of Elizabeth
and Roger and how they would feel.”
Almost all the other dialog
is quotable, too.
Karlen. Barnabas comes to
Julia and tells her. He will silence Maggie Evans if she will not. Maggie
hasn’t remembered for almost a year.
Willie tells Julia and says,
“Don’t treat me like I was back at Windcliff.”
Barnabas asks Julia how long until she talks to Maggie and Julia
answers, “I don’t know.”
Barnabas : what is he saying?
“I cannot help you effectively as long as I know that she might be get free.” What? And “I’ll make the decision.”
Carolyn isn’t here yet.
Barnabas worries Maggie might
get free. Julia says, “I don’t know what I dread more---seeing Maggie at the
mausoleum or seeing Carolyn here. I don’t even know which is more dangerous for
us.”
Frid seems to look at Karlen
as if waiting for his line but it probably is Frid’s line next. Hall steps in
to ask Willie to go with her, which Willie says of course he will go with her.
Barnabas says, “I’ll tell Carolyn that there’s something went wrong with the
equipment.” What?
Julia wishes Carolyn would
have doubts about doing this. Barnabas can’t thank Julia or appreciate enough
what she is doing, and he tells her this.
Willie asks Barnabas for a
favor from Julia: Maggie now hates him and he wishes Julia can make her not do
that. Barnabas says he is no longer concerned with Willie’s problems (WAS HE
EVER?) since Willie has brought him to the edge of disaster.
Julia opens the door and Adam
is there; Willie comes and calls Barnabas.
Julia tells Adam he must be
patient. Adam is sarcastic and offers Willie his hand of thanks since Maggie
will not be the donor of the life force, he didn’t want that either. Adam says
Barnabas knows how difficult it can be to explain to me. Adam threatens Vicki
again. Willie goes up the steps after pleading with Adam to let him go. As he
lets him go, the front door opens by itself.
Adam thinks this house is
full of lies and that Barnabas and Julia make up new rules as they go along.
Adam wants to get Carolyn and forces them to come with him up the steps,
granting them with a please since Stokes taught him to be a gentleman.
Willie is at the top of the
landing and threatens Adam with a rifle, telling them this is the first time
he’s been thinking all day. He doesn’t seem to know about or remember the
connection between Barnabas and Adam. Adam also stops Julia from trying to sneak
out to go to Maggie.
Willie asks why everything he
does turns out so bad and Barnabas tells him he doesn’t think for one thing.
Barnabas seems to tell Willie to keep it down as he instructs him to leave for
Maggie at once, once Adam and Julia have gone down to the lab.
Willie thinks others will be
looking for Maggie: Joe Haskell for one. Willie also tells Barnabas he treated
Maggie badly in those days. Barnabas tells him those days are gone and everyone
should forget them.
Adam is making Julia (and me)
nervous downstairs. Julia snaps at him, “Be quiet.” She also says, “I don’t understand you. I
cannot hurt her but Carolyn I can.”
Julia tells him any mistake
will not hurt the mate but will hurt Carolyn. She pleads with Adam to stop
this. As she talks she gets two IDKs.
Barnabas comes down (as
someone comes down the steps someone whispers something and it sounds like they
are saying Carolyn’s name?) and tells Adam that there is a cost to both he and
Julia in doing this.
Julia sees a gauge going
badly. Adam says, “For once Barnabas is right, there must be no more
problems.”
Barnabas wants Adam to take
the mate away from here immediately after the experiment. Adam doesn’t seem in
sync with that but knows he will have to teach her everything he knows and
teach her how to speak.
Barnabas thinks of Liz and
Roger and how they would feel about this, about Carolyn taking part in this.
Adam gets Carolyn but
Barnabas wanted to. If anything happens to Carolyn, Adam tells them, he will
hurt them even more. The bandages have to stay on the mate until after the
experiment is over to prevent the scarring that Adam has.
Adam dreams of the mate being
alive and as beautiful as Carolyn. “At last, I will have my Carolyn.”
Credits are over the upper
floor and railing at the upstairs landing in the Old House.
A terrific episode with
climatic moments and a build toward that, with the acting tense and on target.
Everyone is on the top of their game and the plot driving and entertaining.
Willie tells Julia, “Well, it started with the music box, and her thinking that she was Josette. And her remembering about Barnabas, and — and how she frightened him, how she couldn’t do anything about it.”
Barnabas tells Julia, “I’ll make the decision. I cannot help you effectively, as long as I know that she might be get free.”
Soon after, he says, “Julia, I can’t thank you — or, appreciate enough, what you’re doing.”
Julia tells Adam, “I won’t be gone long.” Adam growls, “Any time is long — too long.”
When Willie emerges on the landing with the gun, he has to look at the camera a couple of times to check for his cue. Also, a boom mic drops into the shot above his head.
Barnabas orders Willie to go keep an eye on things at the mausoleum. Willie whimpers, “Well, what am I gonna say to Maggie?” Barnabas answers, “Well, say anything you want, but — keep it down.”
Christine: He's too busy being melodramatic. I love when he told Willie, "You brought me to the edge of disaster, and I must find a way back," as he is illuminated by the red light in the lab. I also enjoyed when Willie asked him what he should say to Maggie and Barnabas said, "Say anything you want, but keep it down!"
