DARK SHADOWS 580
DARK SHADOWS 580
“There is only one Carolyn.
And Barnabas and Dr Hoffman could not create another one. I love her but she
doesn’t love me.”
“Uh, Jeff can’t see you
because, uh, he’s helping us put together an artificial woman.”
Grayson. The narration tells
us that Blair lives by and for the pursuit of evil. No reprise.
Angelique sent Joe home over an
hour ago. Blair notes she is not spending as much time as she used to with Joe.
Joe still talks about Maggie Evans. Angelique tells Blair not to make the same
mistake she did: falling in love. She thinks Nicholas might be too fond of
Maggie. He seems almost caring about her being sad and tells her they will introduce
her to someone else. He is going to take a drink but there is a sharp series of
knocks on the door.
Adam comes to them and tells
Blair that he was in the woods for many hours. Camera shake. Blair tells Adam
that Angelique is an assistant. Adam tells them he wants to stop the
experiment, he does not want a mate. He explains that Tony came to see Carolyn
tonight.
The opening segment before
the theme is three minutes long. Blair vs Adam. Blair controls his temper but
warns Adam there is a chance Adam can get Carolyn. Adam says, “IDU.” Blair
explains Adam can have his mate and Carolyn too! Adam also gets a “I didn’t
know what to do.”
Bad camera angle: Adam blocks
Blair’s face. Blair talks Adam into going back to Collinwood.
Angelique is listening and we
see several shots of her doing just that: it’s more riveting than any voice
over.
One can only imagine what
she’s thinking. She also gets a voice over later. She uses the mirror to watch
Julia and Jeff. Julia tells Jeff he’s not said too much the past few days.
Angelique needs Jeff to stay
with Julia to find out more. Jeff flubs, “How’s …who’s Barnabas going to…get?”
Julia: IDK.
As they discuss the woman who
will provide the life force, Julia gets another IDK.
They have only one week to
find someone to use for the life force for the body. On the right, something is
moving around.
Blair stops Angelique and
asks her about her use of the mirror. Angelique has a piece of hair pop out and
stay that way for a long time. Blair mentions Angelique’s mind: “Now, I know how that deviant little mind of
yours works.” He threatens her again.
She tells him the
truth…mostly. She wants herself to be free. Angelique has this haunting look in
these episodes.
Julia finds Jeff resting and
exhausted. She sniffs. Jeff tells Julia the engagement is off. “Oh, I’m
sorry,” she says. She puts her hand on
his shoulder and he looks at it. She
wants to help him with Vicki but she can’t tell her why Jeff has been busy and
elusive. He is now sarcastic with her wanting to go talk to Vicki. “Uh, Jeff
can’t see you because, uh, he’s helping us put together an artificial woman.”
Julia tells him she guesses
he is right, “I wouldn’t know what to tell her.”
Jeff does appreciate her
concern though. He tells her to go upstairs and get some rest. She does.
Something is moving in one of
the reflective surgical mirrors over the table that the body lies on.
The body for the mate looks
four feet tall. Jeff has a scalpel and is going to knife the body. Angelique
stops him and demands he do the experiment now, tonight using her as the life
force. Jeff backs away, “IDK what to do,” he bluffs he cannot do the experiment
(and seems to look at the teleprompter or the camera?) and she bites him again.
Review: Not much really. Adam. Nicholas. Angelique. Jeff.
Julia. Another bite. Next…
In the teaser, the camera tracking Adam as he walks into Nicholas’ drawing room bumps into something, and the picture jolts as they quickly cut to a different camera.
When the magic-mirror-cam first pulls back from a shot of Julia, there’s a brief flash of one of the studio lights before the camera settles into the correct position.
When Julia brings up the subject of the woman who’s going to supply the life force, Jeff stammers, “How’s Barnabas — who’s Barnabas planning to get?”
Jeff tells Julia that he broke another date with Vicki tonight, and Julia says, “Well, perhaps you can go there, and — and — make it out.” I have no idea what she was actually supposed to say.
As Julia walks upstairs from the basement, someone in the studio clears his throat.
