DARK SHADOWS 561
DARK SHADOWS 561
“Who would be in a deserted
graveyard at night?”
“You never know, Barnabas,
someone might.”
Grayson. The narration
mentions the residents of Collinwood. Reprise.
Blair instructs Angelique to
do this: attack Joe. Angelique is glad Blair chose Joe, “I rather like
him.”
She leaves so Blair can talk
to Joe. She felt like a prisoner in this house. Joe says, “There’s so much
going on here that I don’t understand.”
She tells him, “Don’t try to understand.”
A rooster crowing signals
dawn is coming. It is nearly dawn. Joe was here all night long. Blair sends Joe
out.
Old House: Julia writes notes
and the light flickers.
Willie brings back lots of
stuff from Lang’s place to the Old House. Barnabas returns, he had to make a
call to Joe from Collinwood. “I had the feeling that something strange is going
on and I want to find out what it is.”
Joe voice over. On Joe’s bed
is the multi colored blanket, the Afghan.
Barnabas goes to Joe’s room
(APT 24). “What’s wrong with you?” he asks Joe.
Isn’t it odd how Barnabas
(and Maggie later on and maybe even Joe himself) does not realize the signs of
a vampire attack?
Especially when he knows one
is about somewhere? Joe’s answer, “I don’t know.” This really looks like Tony Peterson’s
apartment AND Burke’s hotel room.
Barnabas questions Joe. There
is a fly on the phone as Maggie calls. It’s difficult to make out Joe’s phone
number but it looks like only six numbers?
Barnabas and Joe say goodbye. Later, Barnabas talks to
Julia who asks him, “What do you mean?” His answer, “I don’t know.” The experiment has to come before Joe’s
“illness”. He wanted her to look at Joe, who seemed very ill again.
After she goes down, Blair
comes to the Old House to apologize for getting Joe drunk so that Joe had to go
(DRIVE!?) straight home. They both agree that Joe is an interesting young man.
Hmmmm. Blair leaves.
Joe voice over. Barnabas is
mean once more to Willie. Blair orders Angelique to summon Joe again and she is
quite glad to. “Come to me. Come.” Over
and over. Joe voice over. Again. He tries to resist her but cannot. He goes
through the forest and stumbles upon Willie digging into a grave. Joe will take
Willie to the police.
Review: Slow but sort of
needed. It could be seen from a mile away that Joe would find out Willie was
robbing graves or rather one grave. Question is: Why not just steal one body
and use that entire body? This is what seems to be what they eventually do.
In Friday’s episode, Willie backed up against a pillar in the drawing room of the Old House, and the pillar wobbled. He does exactly the same thing again today, in the first scene of act 4.
When Joe and Barnabas stare at the ringing telephone in Joe’s apartment, a fly buzzes around, and lands on the phone.
Behind the Scenes:
We see Joe’s apartment for the first time today; it’s a redressed version of the same set that we’ve seen as Burke’s apartment, and Tony Peterson’s. It’s even got the same room number, 24. The layout of the furniture is quite different — this was Tony’s living room, with a desk and a couch. Joe’s got his bed in this room.
During the closing credits, we can see one of the green-shaded lamps on the desk in Joe’s room, and a rarer species — a yellow-shaded lamp of the same design — on the bedside table.
Also, the multi-colored Afghan — usually seen on the couch at Maggie’s place — has migrated over to Joe’s bed today.
