DARK SHADOWS 526
DARK SHADOWS 526
Vicki. Reprise. It seems as if they used different shots. During the lightning part though, there is a loud buzzing sound as if FLASH GORDON from the 1930s and 40s were buzzing overhead in a firecracker spouting rocket ship.
The screams now sound like
Lara Parker. Angelique returns as Cassandra. The credits have issues.
Blair seems to have brought
her back just so he can insult and chide her about how could she let this
happen. He has to untie her. She was afraid he would not find her and would not
hear her calls. When did she do this? Was she destroyed as she says or was she
turned into a ghost? Was she in hell? What? She almost flubs a question she
asks him.
Blair tells her that her
predicament is because she has allowed herself to feel emotion…it weakens her.
She will now no nothing but hate and vengeance.
She declares she hates
Barnabas Collins. If she loves, her power is not as strong. Blair tells her
that he will not save her again the way he just did. Cassandra flubs, “Why did
you…how did you?” Victoria Winters made
her return possible.
Jeff finds the right door to
Collinwood open. He knocks anyway…at 2am. Roger comes down and when Jeff asks
to talk to Vicki, Roger tells him he will not wake any member of this family up
at this hour. This statement makes me think that Roger now accepts that Vicki
is one of the family. Roger agrees to go get Vicki.
Blair and Cassandra are in
front of a CSO Collinwood slide. It’s an interesting try to give atmosphere and
they did once with Adam, Julia, and Barnabas. I’m not sure they try this again?
Cassandra needs Blair’s help,
the dream curse must continue. There are sound problems.
Angelique made a bargain with
Blair and they both seem to think that there is nothing more important than
their bargain. Angelique seems to make a face that suggests that the bargain on
her part was reluctant and that she might have had no other choice.
Kay, this makes me think that
NICHOLAS is indeed the devil. And that Angelique did not at first want to be
evil. Of course, the show changes this every different writer or so, sometimes
the same writer seems to not have a grip on either one of these major villains.
Jeff is staring at the doors
of Collinwood from the inside. Roger
comes down and tells him Vicki is not in her bed. Roger locked the doors before
going to bed. Jeff tells him they were open. Roger asks where would she go in the
middle of the night. Jeff says, “IDK.” Jeff
goes out to search for Vicki.
Roger is going to help him
and puts his jacket over his night robe. Before he can make it out of the
doors, Cassandra is there and says, “Hullo Roger.” They hug. She left just to get away and tells
him she is a foolish woman and weak.
Teleprompter for her. She
promises never to do this again or disappear again. She went to
Jeff finds Vicki and she
seems to be sleep walking. She’s never sleepwalked before she says after he
snaps her out of it. She gets an IDK. They find a button in her hand. Jeff asks
where she got it. She says IDK.
Blair comes down to Cassandra
and hugs her. The two liars put on a big show for Roger’s benefit. He mentions
their household home, calling it their old house. Was there any truth to that
lie?
HOW did Nicholas Blair get
back into the house without Roger or Jeff seeing him? Maybe another way in? Or
teleportation but which does not seem to be one of his powers?
Blair tells Roger that he has
to be strict with Cassandra. “She needs it.”
He knows. Roger tells Blair that he can stay here as long as he likes
and Blair is eager to accept that offer.
Jeff brings Vicki in and zoom
in on Vicki as she sees Mrs. Collins. She has on high heels. Cassandra offers
to take her up to her room but Vicki doesn’t want her to. Jeff takes her up.
Roger goes to get champagne
for them to drink in the drawing room. When he leaves, Nicholas closes the
doors and talks to Angelique/Cassandra. He resolves to do something about
Vicki’s suspicions.
In her bed room, Vicki tells
Jeff that she’s terrified. He says IDU. She tells him about Angelique. “You
don’t think she really is Angelique Collins, do you?” he asks her. Vicki’s answer, “I DON’T
KNOW.”
Didn’t Jeff as Peter know
Angelique was a witch? Has he forgotten that?
Vicki’s room has two mirrors
and we see studio lights in both of them. As they talk, there is another JUMP.
They kiss. It’s quite revolting.
Jeff tells her, “I’m Peter
Bradford.” Extreme close up on Vicki.
This makes me think something else was going on with the set.
Jeff also gets an extreme
close up. He tells her his dream. The actor does a good job of explaining his
dream about Forbes and his face lit by a lamp from underneath. It’s all quite
haunting.
Vicki explains that didn’t
happen and Peter never killed Nathan Forbes and never escaped prison. Jeff says
IDK that.
So okay, she’s been trying to
convince him he’s Peter since they saw Trask. NOW she takes the other side! She
tells him that the dream and recognizing Nathan PROVE NOTHING! HUH?
She claims it was just a
dream and that Peter never killed Forbes so he’s not Peter! He insists, after
constantly arguing that he was not and didn’t want to hear it, that he is
Peter!
Can they find two more
annoying leads and two more annoying stances of dialog for these two? Who
doesn’t want to smack them? He tells her there are 100 things he remembers. Oh
yeah? How about the witch? Vicki once more suggests Prof. Stokes. He says he
will go.
I’m not as annoyed now as I
was at them ten years ago when I last saw this episode but still…
Blair comes to Vicki’s room.
Jeff has the missing button and notices one of Blair’s jacket buttons is
missing. The daring music starts as Vicki is talking to Blair and she continues
to talk…and not be heard through the end result music.
The tree thing makes no sense
to me. Blair is a good villain again. Cassandra’s return is most odd and
thrilling at the same time. I suspect it would have had more impact if we didn’t
see it until Roger did.
Doesn’t Roger or anyone
question why she returned at 2am? For that matter, why is Blair at
In the first scene, when Nicholas tells Cassandra that her powers should have been stronger than Trask’s, she says, “It wasn’t.” He hesitates for a moment, clearly trying to remember his next line. He’s just opening his mouth to speak, when Cassandra gives him the cue again: “It wasn’t.”
The audio cuts in and out for a moment when Nicholas and Cassandra are talking about their bargain.
We see Vicki standing and waiting for her cue before she starts walking through the woods, dazed.
When Jeff finds Vicki wandering through the woods, she’s standing in front of the same tree that Nicholas sent her away from. She’s apparently been walking in circles.
When Nicholas closes the drawing room doors and starts his conversation with Cassandra, you can hear people walking around in the studio.
One of the studio lights is reflected in the mirror in Vicki’s room.
