KYO KARA MAOH-SEASON THREE: 86-CAPTURED DEMON KING and 87-BLACK GENEUS

 

The first episode here was so exciting I had to watch the second. One must note unique colorful and original design of the arena, the stands, and the buildings around them. There is nothing quite like the originality of these designs. Yuri, captured, spends time in a cell where Geneus seems genuine about helping him escape but Yuri decides to have faith in his friends rather than trust a stranger. Later, in the arena, Murata tells him that Geneus is an enemy and not to trust him at all. Conrad is supposed to execute Yuri when Conrad’s plan to rescue Yuri as the rightful heir (and only surviving one thanks to the plots of Langille and Geneus who seemed to have “disposed of” all previous hiers---does this include the uncle?) seems to go awry and he and all Yuri’s friends end up in the arena trying to rescue him where esoteric magic has slowed their progress but a deliberate hole was left open so they could come rescue him: a trap.

 

Nevertheless, Yuri transforms into the larger Demon King and stops the monsters driven to kill them and fights and stops Geneus, who reveals his true look (I think). With Adelbart’s help, they all escape. Several of the guards of Cimaron are seemingly killed during the encounters, though there is NO blood, thank goodness. Yuri feels that he got lots of people in trouble again. The leader of Small Cimaron and his aide also leave, the aide Bartiel (?) killing some guards, too.

 

While there’s plenty of action here to keep on entranced and Yuri’s personality shines through, it’s a bit disappointing that Yuri’s “hulk” out here doesn’t seem as strong as in previous appearances and his sparse showings in this season so far have been sort of disappointing. Nevertheless, there is a lot to enjoy here. The strange mystery woman gives Geneus some energy but he seems determined more than ever to stop and kill Murata who helped Yuri/Demon King. Also not sure how Conrad and Adelbert smashed through the multi cart barrage and seemingly killed none of the military but it’s also an exciting moment.  

 

It’s also fun how Wolfram is heaved over the shoulders of first Adalbart and then Yosak as he’s still dressed as a girl. I also like how Yuri recalls that Wolfram was always yelling at him that he’s too gullible and believing anyone he meets about everything.

 

Hilariously, Yosak thinks that coloring his eyebrows gray and wearing a silly gray mustache is all he needs as a disguise?

"Let me do the talking, Willie."   KLS. No reprise.   Willie runs to the Old House and yells for Barnabas. He tells him what’s happened. About one half hour ago, Maggie escaped. Willie worries Barnabas might do something to Maggie.     Maggie voice over, “I don’t know if I have the strength to go on.”     She decides not to go to Collinwood in case Barnabas is there. And…it’s …cute!   Vicki comes in and I must say they finally have her look just right: she has never looked more pretty, her hair looks great, and her muscle tone is just right. Hmmm, yeah.
