FANDOMS corner to corner 1 to 7

FANZINES CORNER TO CORNER number one:   I want to examine the fanzines from one corner of the room, shelf to shelf, thus the name. I might also include the annuals and yearbooks from various fandoms, too but we shall see. There’s a lot to cover.   This time: COMPADRES number 13 Straight Through the Heart vol 1 A multi media buddy and team zine-Science Fiction issue Year of publication: 1998   The stories features are LOST IN SPACE-POT SHOT, PLANET OF THE APES/STARSKY AND HUTCH: EXACTLY LIKE YOU, WAR OF THE WORLDS: MOMENT OF   TRUTH, WALKER TEXAS RANGER: IN THE SHADOW OF EVIL, STARGATE: NO BUTT’S ABOUT IT, and THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS: COLD SPIRITS.   I’m guessing I bought this zine ONLY for the LOST IN SPACE story. Not that I don’t like the other shows but there was an overfill of zines for them, mostly. The stories here are long and the zine is over 184 pages.   LOST IN SPACE: POT SHOT is a Don and Smith buddy story. It’s diff...

THE AVENGERS-THEY KEEP KILLING STEED

THE AVENGERS-THEY KEEP KILLING STEED “Look! The woods are full of them!”   Meaning Steeds.   I used to really love this episode. I’m sure I saw all of it at some long ago time in the past. I was always working and / or going to college when the reruns were constantly on so I do remember coming into the end fights of this and loving it.   I still think it is an absolutely barmy episode but…   …the idea of many Steeds being killed is a great one and again but…   …this fails to hold up today. I mean I still love it for Tara, who is my favorite Avenger, actually. And Ian Ogilvy as Baron Von Curt is a great addition to the cast as a romantic possibility for Tara. What a great couple they made. I was wondering if he would survive the episode as many allies die along the way and/or turn out to be baddies. He is neither a victim or a villain. He’s also rich and rather humble about it until he can’t hide it any longer from the beautiful Tara. ...

DARK SHADOWS 482

DARK SHADOWS  482 “You let me see the sun for the first time in almost two centuries. You risked your life and this is your payment.”   “Wow. Come to Maggie Evan’s house and hear her latest nightmare.”   “Are you kidding. I can’t wait for the next installment.”   “I’m a firm believer that a girl should speak her mind.” “I’ll make coffee.” “That might help.”     Vicki. No reprise, however Barnabas and Eric discuss everything and give us a nice rundown of what’s going on. They talk about Cassandra/Angelique. As he moves through his study office room doors, Eric calls her an inefficient witch. Barnabas knows better, and in answer to that says, “Oh no.”   The talisman is gone. One question: WHY would Lang just leave it there? He knows what it can do to protect him against her. On the other hand, why wouldn’t Angelique just attack him the moment she has it and/or the moment she realizes it is not on him. All she had to do was ...
