DOCTOR WHO-THE ROBOT REVOLUTION (spoilers)

DOCTOR WHO-THE ROBOT REVOLUTION

I’m trying to go into this with an open mind but it’s difficult after the crap 2023 and 2024 seasons and the crap JOY TO THE WORLD.

The first thing to notice is that no one talks like Alan does. RTD obviously hates straight men and wants us to hate Alan quickly. Alan immediately in the first two minutes or less says that a girl has to be called Miss if she’s not married, worries that Belinda doesn’t like his gift, and says girls are not good at maths. He’s obviously the kind of person RTD hates and wants us to hate, too. This is what DW is about now: hate and insults. Not good. Belinda doesn’t like the gift really it seems but then she goes and tells Alan it is the nicest thing anyone’s done for her, which makes us not like her much either.

Ahh, in comes the Doctor to…short out an entire hospital. And it’s meant to be funny. Only…it’s not. It’s okay, as he says he’s sorry. Sigh.

Well, on the plus side, this looks vibrant and colorful and the music is…well, it’s Gold who should have left ages ago and stayed gone but it’s not terrible but no 2005 to 2012 music (Gold’s great in those years but burned out, a lot like RTD’s DW writing).

Okay. This reminds me of any number of Chib’s bullshit and Moffat bullshit. Huge robots who will fire and kill if they don’t get what they want. Landing on earth and storming through Earth buildings.

And then RTD does something I truly loathe. He has the robot kill a cat and on screen and has the robot call it irrelevant. As if I thought I couldn’t hate RTD more than I do …oh sorry, I mean hate his writing more than I already do, killing a cat or any animal is a big no-no for me and he goes and has a cat fried to death on screen. I HATE RTD.

Mrs. Flood looks at the camera, “You ain’t seen me,” when the Doctor comes running out, too late to save Belinda from being kidnapped by the robots in a very Flash Gordon retro rocket ship. I hate that, too. The looking at the camera by some villain if she is a villain. Breaks the whole realism thing, not that that TARDIS hasn’t sailed years ago.

As if I have no reasons yet to hate Belinda, she throws Alan under the bus and tells the robots to go get Alan. I hate her, too, now. “Go get him!” Indeed. Shut up and I now hope they incinerate her.

So why wait to attack the robots if you have the fire power? Sneak attack?

Typical Moffat stuff: a girl hopes to have adventures in the stars with the Doctor and is gunned down. Thought that skeletal stuff was Dalek fire power (at least from the trailer). Hence, girls dies, Doctor cries. Sigh.

The big muscle man that helps is quite the hero and against the Doctor, he looks quite superior and the Doc like a little shrimp. Or are we not allowed to insult shrimps nowadays either?

In any case, this is not terrible besides an ineffective Doctor who had six months to plan this and an unlikable Belinda.

Manny is quite hot, wish he were the companion. While on that subject, Ncuti is quite the hottest Doctor ever and with that new haircut…

…okay, this is not that bad. It’s RTD’s bad boyfriend, evil war mongering white man turns himself into monster and allies with the evil robots destroying people because he loves war and wants to control everything and everyone but it sort of works.

Despite a rough start this does work and as an adventure it’s quite rousing.

It’s also VERY DOCTOR WHO so I would give it a probable 8/10 or a 9/10. Despite the hack killing a cat on screen, this wasn't that bad, though Belinda is a nasty one blaming Alan right from the start. It took some time to warm up to her after that but this mostly worked better than every story from last season.

ADDENDUM: As for calling Bell, THE NURSE, yeah stop calling her the Nurse. I'm glad she's a nurse, one of the greatest professions ever but that scene was sort of cringe and her dialog for the first five to ten minutes was cringe as was the killing of the cat, no, no, and no. The rest was an improvement but does anyone get that the Doctor, who I like and I always liked Ncuti, is very physically the weakest of all the Doctors, all the characters? He doesn't look like he can hold a fight, let alone be the Doctors that all the others were, except the awful Matt Smith. I mean I accept Ncuti as the Doctor but he feels...rather wimpy next to the women and guys like Manny. He is very frail and very ....wimpy feeling, even more than Jodie and doesn't have the powerful feels that Hartnell to Tennant and Capaldi and Jodie had. He has no real physical prowess, though probably the best body of any Doctor. He just doesn't have or exude
