DARK SHADOWS 529
DARK SHADOWS 529
“It’s Barnabas Collins who
arouses these violent emotions in you. Why?”
KLS. Same still of Collinwood
is getting really boring and every ep seems to use it now.
Maggie believes what she saw
was a ghost. Her screams are, if possible, more overdone and she does not
scream, “Vicki! Vicki!”
We do not see Lara Parker at
all in the so called reprise, which is not really a real reprise.
Maggie does walk in so I
guess that counts.
Maggie describes Angelique
and Vicki realizes that the witch wants her to have the dream and if she does,
“Barnabas will die.” Vicki asks Maggie
what it was Angelique said, and Maggie answers, “I don’t know.”
Then Maggie says that she
didn’t have time to say anything but she’s already said that the figure spoke
over Vicki!? Maggie says she didn’t have time to tell Vicki the entire dream
but she did say something. Huh? The couch has the Afghan on it.
Joe comes in and Maggie tells
him she saw a ghost. Vicki tells Joe about Angelique and the first Barnabas.
Maggie wants Joe to stay on the couch and he will. “You know this is pretty
tough to understand,” he says.
Vicki voice over as she sees
and almost uses the rosewater. Maggie comes in to Vicki and her appearance
inadvertently stops Vicki from using the rosewater. “IDK why but suddenly I don’t
feel I’m in any danger at all.”
Vicki suddenly feels no
danger, which is usually a sense of danger in DS. A scary thought. That the
false sense of “no danger” actually
means one is falling into a dangerous trap. She asks Maggie about the cologne and
Maggie tells her it is not her’s. Vicki realizes that if she used it, that
would have induced the dream.
Later, Joe, Maggie, and Vicki
have coffee. Vicki gets another IDK. Maggie suggests she leave Collinsport but
Vicki doesn’t want to leave Jeff. Maggie says, “IDK what to suggest.” Vicki mentions Cassandra is the one after
her so both Maggie and Joe should know Cassandra IS Angelique.
Vicki wants to go see Stokes.
Joe is fascinated by this Stokes character and wants to come with her. Maggie
and Joe explain about the stick pin and Joe claims Stokes broke into the house
when Vicki says, “I still don’t understand.”
When she asks why he would break in, Joe gets an IDK and wants to go
with her.
Stokes had a red ring. It is
afternoon and he is teaching Adam the words airplane and boat. He then plays a
word association game with him. The word Love means nothing to him it seems. The
word hate brings about the word Willie.
The word kill brings about
the word Barnabas. It appears Barnabas offered some kind of rejection after a
friendship to Adam.
Adam is more violent toward
the word Barnabas.
Adam actually cries about
Barnabas. Stokes deduces that Adam has developed a strong emotional attachment
to Barnabas.
Adam hides when Vicki and Joe
arrive. While Joe looks around the main room, Vicki and Stokes talk about
Cassandra…in front of Joe, so doesn’t he have ANYTHING to add to it when he
hears it? I mean she was there when Sam was suffering. Stokes brings up that
the tobacco Cassandra left for Sam’s pipe induced the dream in Sam.
And BTW, Joe knew Sam had the
painting stolen, didn’t he?
Since Vicki won’t leave town
with Jeff still here (why doesn’t Jeff go with her and WHY DOESN’T STOKES OR
VICKI THINK OF THAT?), Stokes calls her a moonstruck schoolgirl. MIKE SHADOW. And
a total mike on screen above them.
Joe asks about the teaching
cards. Stokes lies and says he has a 3 year old nephew (does he?) that he was
teaching. They hear footsteps in the other rooms. Stokes lies again and says he
has a cleaning person. Does he?
He can’t help Vicki. Joe asks
about the stickpin. Stokes tells Joe he went into the house to see if Maggie
was there…to give his condolences.
BUT wasn’t Sam still alive at
that point in the hospital? Before they leave, Stokes offers his help to
Vicki…AFTER she will have the dream. Thanks a lot, Prof. Dumbo. Suddenly, he’s
powerless against Cassandra and the dream.
Just checked: Stokes lost the
pin in the cottage on the night Sam died at the hospital.
Joe sneaks into Maggie’s
cottage and gets Sam’s rifle. Maggie comes in and it is Maggie vs Joe. Stokes
eye glass falls again.
Joe comes in with the rifle.
When Stokes asks why he would hide Adam, Joe says, “IDK. I do know I want to
search this house.”
Stokes vs Joe, physically
this time. Adam comes in, “YOU!” Adam
throws a book at Joe and runs outside. Joe gives chase and we hear a shot.
For some reason, I can’t
fathom what, I like this episode.
Perhaps it is because Joe
finally pieces something together. Perhaps it is the aftermath of the great
Angelique haunting scene. Not sure but this is not a bad ep at all. Very
entertaining.
I’d like to know how Stokes
will get out of this one, the dumbo. Oh and speaking of dumbos, why didn’t Joe
just go to the sheriff and tell them Adam was at Stokes’ house? Or is it an
apartment?
- In the previous episode, there seemed to be an agreement that Jeff would stay at the Evans cottage one more night, but there is no sign of him when Maggie screams at the ghost of Angelique or when Joe comes over and Maggie asks him to stay the night.
- In Act I, when Maggie is telling Joe about seeing the ghost of Angelique, there is a squeaking noise off-stage. A squeaking sound is also heard at the beginning of Act II when Victoria is saying she thought she was safe at the Evans cottage as well as when Joe talks about Professor Stokes.
- Since Victoria had just gotten out of the bed, it should have looked slept in; instead the bed was made, and Victoria had to pull down to covers to get back in.
- When Adam moves to the sofa, a boom mic appears above Professor Stokes. Another boom mic appears in the shot as Professor Stokes talks with Vicki.
- When Professor Stokes opens the door to his living room and lets Victoria and Joe in after they ring the buzzer (and later when Joe returns), the couple enters immediately from the living room door. However, in previous episodes, it has been shown that there is a hallway or vestibule between the living room door and the outer door to Stokes's apartment, and characters have been seen ringing the buzzer from that outer door.
- In Act III, when Professor Stokes stands and tells Victoria she is behaving like a "moonstruck schoolgirl," a boom mic shadow moves across him.
- Vicki accidentally calls Joe "Jeff" when they are leaving Professor Stokes's apartment.
