BIG FINISH’s
DARK SHADOWS-BLOODLUST episode 6
Opening
narration: The sheriff? Kate?
Maggie talks
to Quentin about him leaving and how he is not normal. Quentin didn’t think
Maggie would be so closed minded. Michael Devereux told him about Maggie’s
group. Maggie knows Quentin did not personally cause Susan’s death. Amy comes looking for Harry and Tommy (Tom).
Quentin tells Amy it is good to see her again.
“So gloriously
loud,” Quentin describes Amy as a child. She is his great granddaughter and she
does not know. Maggie feels she does not need to know.
Rhonda comes
to speak to Amy Cunningham to tell her and Maggie and Quentin that Andrew is
dead. Rhonda also tells them Jessica Griffin was attacked too last night but
she is clinging to life in a coma. Maggie wonders about the wounds: a werewolf?
She demands Quentin leaves today or she will tell the town what he is.
Ghost Susan
just appears as Ed explains to Benjamin Franklin what happened. Susan
experiences some kind of attack by forces as worlds collide, “Collinsport will
fall and there will be another attack…tonight.”
Theme.
Rhonda tells
Amy that a pentagram was found on Andrew, and Amy comments like a witch killed
him.
Quentin goes
to the great house calling it a house of misery. David answers and says, “No dogs
allowed.” He also tells Quentin that Roger and his Aunt Elizabeth never returned
to Collinsport and are in Paris now. David seems to know Quentin is a werewolf.
David explains Carolyn is gone again, went to visit a friend of hers in
Logansport: Ned Stuart. David has more caustic comments about who he might want
to see: Mrs. Johnson, Susan Griffin. David blames Quentin and the rest of his
family for what happened to him.
Harry reacts
to Andrew’s death. Tom asks if Andrew was murdered. Tom’s child like innocence
makes it seem as if he thinks Andrew deserved it. Harry hated him and says so, “He
was my dad. God, I wished he was dead but…” Amy comforts Harry.
Quentin asks
Maggie where Angelique is after David doesn’t know. He searches for her.
Tom asks if
the wicked witch killed his father.
Harry is
overheard talking about where Angelique is when he wants to go ask her if she
killed Andrew. Quentin goes to the cave on the beach. She shows up for him and
is not glad to see him either. Angelique impresses on him that it was not she
that killed Andrew. Quentin is a respectable man in London with a business. She
feels a secret inside him and that he is in love. He tells her he is in love
with a woman named Leyla Collins, his wife. She wonders if that is her signing
her own death warrant.
Angelique is
planning; she started with nothing years ago. Quentin tells her Barnabas will
never love her.
Quentin
doesn’t care about the town or Maggie. “Like all men, you come to me because
you want something,” she says.
Ed talks to
Micheal about the meeting tonight. Mike leaves. Susan comes out, upset they are
having the meeting here. Ed drinks. Susan can sense moods, emotions and hints
of the future. Hunt down supernatural. Ed thinks that’s good until Susan
reminds him she’s a ghost. She can’t hold him. He never was the brightest bulb.
Trask comes
in for a drink.
To defeat
the Rankin creature (?), Angelique turned Quentin into the wolf last time he
was in town. A full moon is on the way and Quentin wants to feel it. She asks
about his new life. He wants to feel it once last time. She calls him naïve and
that he sounds like an addict. She demands he go because someone else is
waiting to see her and will not reveal himself until he goes.
Quentin leaves
and Harry shows himself. She is genuinely sorry for Harry and has no argument
with Amy or Harry. She knows what Harry is and can see it inside him. He did
something the night Melody was killed. She has no reason to kill Andrew and had
her revenge already. Harry threatens to bring people here if she tells. She
really likes him and threatens to reveal what he is if he brings anyone here or
tells where she is. She sounds sympathetic but he runs off, yelling, “Leave us
alone, just leave us all alone.”
Jackie meets
Maggie who gives her flyers. Cody asks Maggie about Harry, having heard about
Harry’s dad. Amy tells Maggie she needs to lie down and not come to the
meeting; Harry’s gone for a walk. Mike tells Amy to look after herself. Tom tells
Cody he went for a walk. Cody meets Tom. Maggie tells Cody to look after Tom
when they go for a walk.
Quentin
knows the boy Harry is his great great grandson and a full moon is coming.
Cody thinks
he’s being played a joke on. Harry meets Tom and Cody. “Is he taller than you?
Definitely prettier,” Cody comments. Harry says, “Don’t start.”
Cody is
going to go to the meeting. They talk about Andrew. Harry says, “This town,
what does death even mean here?”
Cody jokes
about the great totem pole of creation. He also says he has a suddenly hot
younger brother. Harry tells Tom he will explain later, then says, “Wait, no I
won’t. Cody!” Jackie and Cody think
Harry is cool. Cody says he needs beer, which is he and Jackie they go to the
meetings. They buy coke but then fill
the bottle with beer. Tom asks if beer is like bacon and Cody says it is
better. Tom wants to try beer. “You are such a bad influence,” Harry says. Is Cody
Native American as he continues to make references to his tribe and to Native
American culture, usually in a joke.
Quentin
explains the curse of the werewolf is passed down through and to the male descendants.
Tom is his great great grandson. He tells Maggie this. Maggie thinks they can
stop creatures if they all work together. There are normal people here who have
done terrible things and then there are creatures like Quentin, he explains,
who have saved lives, “It’s not black and white, Maggie.”
Maggie is
putting herself in danger. She asks him to help them but knows he will not, he’s
the same selfish Quentin Collins. She tells him to find Angelique and do
whatever it is he wants to and get out of Collinsport. She has a point now.
Kate wants a
beer at the Blue Whale meeting. Ben Franklin is Frankie. They seem okay with each
other now. She needed some space. He has a beer, too.
The Jerry Lacey
reverend Isaiah Trask leaves the Blue Whale after talking to Ed. Jackie holds the
door for him. He says Good Evening to Ed. He refuses another whiskey.
Cody calls
Jackie off of asking Harry about his dad. She asks, “Whoa, when did you get so
butch?”
She meets
Tom. He claims he is here to try beer.
“And for
once she is actually at a loss for words,” Cody says of Jackie.
The Blue
Whale still has a juke box.
Kate will
leave with Frankie, her boyfriend. She asks Harry to take photos for the Star.
She knows about the teens’ plans to get drunk. Jackie jokes, “How does she
know? She’s a demon. It’s the only explanation.”
Cody thinks
Kate’s boyfriend is beautiful.
Maggie’s
mike goes awry for a short time. She gives a speech about the town being safe
and to stop pretending that the supernatural isn’t real. She goes on about
people who have died and creatures of the night. So many. Ed blames the Collins
family. Maggie denies they know that. She spent years being laughed at. On the
flyer is a list of those who died due to the supernatural. The TV crew didn’t
die from a gas leak. She brings up Victoria Winters.
She brings
up the birds, the ghost ship, the death of Susan, and Melody.
Ed wants to
go to Collinwood and get the truth out of David. Rhonda tries to dispute this.
Ed starts to lead a mob toward Collinwood. Ed seems to either call Rhonda a liar,
“You lie” or “You die!” Or huh?
Harry claims
Andrew was killed by a witch. He claims it has nothing to do with David
Collins. He tells them where a witch is, in a cave on the beach. He explains he
doesn’t know if she killed Andrew but she knows things. Ed heads toward the
beach. Maggie tells Mike to go back to the Inn. Susan laments Ed.
Quentin was
late. She wanted him to return at sunset. He warns Angelique. Trask arrives and
tries to warn her, too. Trask knows he is a heathen wolf. She calls Trask an
old fool. Quentin tells her that they have another ally. He was late because, “I’ve
summoned him.” It is what he was going to
offer her in return.
Harry claims
they were going to go after some innocent man. Cody feels the mob is so wrong. “I
don’t understand what’s happening,” Tom said. Harry tells Tom to stay behind
him.
Trask goes to
the mob, telling them his mistress did not kill Melody and Andrew or harm Ed’s
mother. Ed beats Trask. Rhonda warms she will shoot if they don’t stop
attacking Trask.
“I am
innocent. This time,” Angelique says. Quentin moves to protect her, behind her.
Ed is happy
he left Trask in a bad way.
Maggie is
called in by Angelique who tells her she should be scared of her. Angelique
knows young Harry told the mob about her. Harry says, “I’m sorry.” She brings up Harry’s secret.
Angelique
says, “Well, I shall not be the one to tell them for I do not judge.”
Rhonda tries
to protect Angelique. Quentin invokes that it is not black and white to Maggie.
“Wait. He
comes!” Quentin yells.
It feels
like an earthquake. “No, it’s no earthquake. He just likes to make a dramatic
entrance,” Quentin laughs. “He just likes to make a dramatic entrance.”
“Good evening.”
Maggie
recognizes the figure. “Barnabas?”
Andew
Collins makes an excellent Barnabas, carefully evoking Frid but making this his
own, too. It’s perfect. Unlike Julia in the next mini-series.
Maggie tells
Barnabas to go back to hell. Quentin tells her to look at the old man on the
beach. When Maggie asks who killed Melody and Andrew, Angelique says, “I do not
know but what I do know is that we are now the trinity…and we will protect
ourselves. The witch…”
“The wolf…”
“…and the
vampire.”
THEME.
FANTASTIC.
Utterly fantastic. What a way for Barnabas to appear. Unexpectedly, too. Another
great episode.
Cody says, “DS
is a BF production.”
