Watched both eps of THE BRINGERS OF WONDER of SPACE: 1999 and you know what, though I know it almost line for line, it was still entertaining as ever, moved along nicely, and did what was said to be done for year two: made everyone warmer, nicer, friendlier, and happier and it all works. Sure, there are one or two cringe moments and flaws I'm sure but overall, it was a lively excursion into year two with some of the strangest monsters, a good guest cast, something for Alan to do and a good part for just about everyone. I love it and always will! From Koenig's slap happy crash landing to the end where Maya playfully picks up Tony to John's falling asleep, this was a joyful, fun and exciting episode. Not sure I like Tony's immediate response being, "KILL THEM!" though. I mean just because they look repulsive? I guess it's like an instinctive reaction, maybe some race memory like seeing a snake or spider. Wish some more thought went into, "Are they friendly?" Though at one point, John considers giving them the nuclear waste dumps, which is, for once, a clever piece of writing for year two.

 WHY DOCTOR WHO IS SUCH GARBAGE NOW DW is in sad shape right now. A response to a post about the 60 anniversary "stories". What? RTD is shit now. His writer block from Journey's End stuck and never left. He's burned out of DW and sci fi, he was never that great at the sci fi but fortunately he used to make good choices for the Doctor, his personality, and the premise and plots, usually. His time from 2005 to 2008's MIDNIGHT was the best of the modern series, not perfect but entertaining, meaningful, emotionally sound, logically good, solid DW. Torchwood was a huge mistake and crap, a gutter show. Sarah Jane worked but became routine. RTD burned out on DW and wrote a few good things between his first tenure and now (ALL not sci fi and ALL usually about what he knows: gay life and they were okay, if sad).   THE WORST DOCTOR WHO ERA and hopefully the very last     I DID NOT SURVIVE THE RTD DISNEY/GATWA error Aka the Wrap Up Destruction of DW!   You know how some of the McCoy stories were “throw in everything but the kitchen sink” ahead of their time and you hated them when you first saw them as incomprehensible low level garbage but they were really just a bit ahead of their time, sort of and you start to like them after reading what they were really about and what was really behind them (I don’t mean the shit like HAPPINESS PATROL and DRAGONFIRE, those suck)?
