DARK SHADOWS 294 and 295

Image
DARK SHADOWS 294 and 295 I’m engrossed in this more than ever before. So much so that I don’t really want to write these reviews any more. Burn out? Maybe?  These two episodes take the show to new levels and new plot directions. In any case Maggie gets a flurry of IDKs in the first episode and there’s also a host of IDU in them, too. Sarah comes off as a nut case again, telling Maggie she’d never leave her and then leaving her to wander into the Blue Whale by herself, though Maggie and Sarah’s scene are charming and warm. In addition, the end of 294 refilmed for the start of 295 (which for the first time has this show presented in COLOR! OH MY!) has one of the most pivotal and iconic events in DS history: Maggie is free and known to be alive by Burke and Vicki while in the Blue Whale for the first time in some three months or longer AND Barnabas, who found out she was alive from Julia few eps ago, is there, wondering if she will expose him. Anyone NOT tuning in after the e...

DOCTOR WHO s13 e1: Chapter 1: The Halloween Apocalypse

DOCTOR WHO s13 e1: Chapter 1: The Halloween Apocalypse   Okay, so this season will be one six part story. Fine. I like that new idea for this show, it had to do something to make things better than the boring last season, which overall was…well, really boring and about as meaningful as an episode of PHOTON or POWER RANGERS but at least those are entertaining and shorter.   For one, I liked this episode for what it was but without seeing the whole story it will be hard to completely judge it. I mean I though season six’s first two “stories” as episodes weren’t terrible. That being THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT and DAY OF THE MOON. Both seemed okay on first viewing but when one finds out about the mysteries that are actually happening in them, they’re really both awful, badly plotted, illogically written, and frankly, boring now. This…seems like more of an adventure than a Moffat Gimmick. Frankly, though Chibs is the Jekyll (season 11) and Hyde (the horribly boring and...

DOCTOR WHO-NIGHT TERRORS

Image
NEW DOCTOR WHO SERIES-season 6-NIGHT TERRORS "I've just been turned into a wooden dolly."   This starts off well enough. The mundane of the apartment complex and the child’s bedroom of…toys is well handled, at least at the start as is the Doctor, Amy and Rory entering into the situation. I must say that the child, George, isn’t the most expressive of child characters or the most relatable but I believe that’s because of the big revelation, the thing that really destroys most of, if not all of, the entire set up of this story.   On a side note, I believe this to be a sort of remake of THE BIONIC WOMAN episode THE GHOST HUNTER, which is a far better episode. It also has a lot in common with…oh heck, not in common with but takes the entire alien backstory to the aliens in THE TOMORROW PEOPLE-THE BLUE AND THE GREEN.   When I first saw this, I thought the explanations about George reacting against his parents, the only two beings on Earth to protect him this...

Doogie Kamealoha MD

Image
Okay, Disney Plus has another hit on their hands, if quality, good scripts, a light hearted yet meaningful tone, a great cast, and laughs and tears are anything to go by. And here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doogie_Kame%C4%81loha,_M.D . The original Doogie Howser was okay for a few seasons here and there but this is AMAZING and superior in every way. The cinematography, the tight scripts, the seriousness and sometimes the humor of the hospital offsets any reservations about this being JUST another medical show. It's not. It, like the other three DISNEY PLUS hits before this (THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS, BIG SHOT, and TURNER AND HOOCH) is about people, their interaction, how they connect, and again, no one is really slowly suffering and dying, no one gets killed unexpectedly, there's no gore or self centered nasty characters, and no God awful flashbacks or flash forwards that pass as drama these days. It's all pure, all right there to enjoy and to mull over an...
