THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY season two-eps 4 and 5

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY season two-eps 4 and 5   Very fun. Very entertaining. More greatness.   SPOILERS for those who need them       SPOILERS (but if you don’t want to be spoiled why even read this?)       SPOILERS for those who need attention by complaining about spoilers or lack of them?     SPOILERS       More greatness. Fights. A dad sighting. And Five and the Handler meet. The dialog this season is more snappy and less gimmicky and everyone gets great and funny lines, especially Diego and his new found girl, who is really the Handler’s daughter. Klaus still has the best lines but Five and Diego seem to nearly reach his heights but not quite yet. They’re all funny and funnier when they finally come together in episode 4 and 5.   Anyone notice that when Luthor and Allison hug…it is filmed so that all the patrons still outside at the tables and chairs all vanish and th...

DOCTOR WHO-ROBOTS OF DEATH

DOCTOR WHO-THE FACE OF EVIL part 4 and THE ROBOTS OF DEATH part 1   LEELA: Sometimes you talk like a Tesh. DOCTOR: Thank you. LEELA: It was not well meant. Are the mechanical men friendly? DOCTOR: Robots don't have feelings. It's the people they serve we must hope are friendly.   I always thought ROBOTS OF DEATH was over rated but seeing ep1 here again after a few years, I have to admit, despite the old hat plot (and it’s a great one, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE aka TEN LITTLE INDIANS, which almost every series has tried…sort of…such as VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA’s creepy THE DEATH SHIP as well as GET SMART and which the BBC just remade), the style has B*l&s. The sets, the design, the costumes, the premise, the whole world building of the script…something the new series could learn from watching this draw you into it. The characters all seem to have lives outside of this plot and there’s a lot talked about here: the Founding Families, robot factories, corpse marke...

DOCTOR WHO-THE TIME MONSTER

DOCTOR WHO-THE TIME MONSTER episode 1   I feel as if I’ve written about this story more than any other and I feel as if I’ve just watched it in full, which I haven’t in quite a few years. It’s not a safe story, as many characters die or get turned old (hello the sexually questioning Stu Hyde, who’s own sister claims he doesn’t count as a man!) or into a baby (hello Benton who’s naked at one point after returning to his adult form). It feels safe and comfortable. Jo is clearly Jo (“I know I’m exceedingly dim…”…uh, no, you’re not) and the Brig is clearly the Brig (“You know, if this got out, you'd be the laughing stock of UNIT. A dream. Really, Doctor, you'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next.”). Mike is…you get the idea. That said, it’s not predictable as the Master is now a Professor at a university or something, the Newton Institute working for some time over Ruth Ingram and her brother Stuart (both companion material but maybe for Troughton’s Doctor!). These l...
