DARK SHADOWS 134

DARK SHADOWS 134   It’s scary how the normal and innocent things in life are turned around in this storyline. Vicki tries to get David to see his mother and says she loves him but we know from later this might not be entirely true and in fact, she will cause his death (and rebirth?). It odd to think that we don’t know Laura’s real motives or feelings. Does she love David even though she was going to do what she would have if Vicki doesn’t save David later on?   EVERYONE but Laura gets an IDK. David gets three I DON’T KNOWs. Vicki and Roger both get two. Liz gets one IDK. Vicki also gets an “I KNOW.” David also gets, “Something I don’t understand.”   Laura gets a few “I KNOW”s.   This day picks up with David in the window calling out to his mother and seeing her in the trees. He’s so happy that he will soon be meeting her but then he doesn’t want to. When he does he sees her face in flames.   Another amazingly creepy and good episode, a sca...

DARK SHADOWS 133

DARK SHADOWS 133   “Something’s bugging you.” “There’s always something bugging me.” “I meant more than usual.”   Laura gets two IDK. Burke gets an IDK. Burke smokes. And that’s about it. No, just kidding. Sam’s painting the woman in fire and covering it up from Maggie. The creepy music helps to make it …well, creepy. Laura is attracted to Burke’s lit match.   There’s a camera on display to the right in the hotel restaurant. Maggie serves an old man costumer. One of the most unusual things is that when discussing David, Burke tells her if she had married him, they could have a kid just like David and Laura says, “Exactly like David.” So, are they implying that David is really Burke’s son? I hope not because I don’t like that idea.   Other than that Sam’s worried, Laura’s mysterious, Burke is plotting to get himself cleared by Laura, and Maggie is in the dark, sort of. The painting is really weird. Sam mentions a fog that has rolled in is ba...

BATMAN – 89-BLACK WIDOW STRIKES AGAIN

BATMAN – 89-BLACK WIDOW STRIKES AGAIN An okay episode but nothing really funny despite some hammy lines and a fairly good bat fight (Robin’s getting punched in the stomach by two henchmen and yells for Batman) and a good cliffhanger (the spiders are climbing up the duo’s torsos ready to strike or eat them (?). I’m amazed that in the cliffhanger and even in other places, the camera men are not afraid, this time, to focus on Burt’s crotch. Despite their bravery, Ward’s problem is very noticeable at times. George Raft does a cameo in the bank as a customer. Tallulah Bankhead doesn’t have to do much really…she had her brain neutralize and her paralyzing spray and her spiders and the whole spider motif is creepy enough. I can imagine ABC warning the makers of the show not to make this too scary but as a kid I was petrified anyway, but honestly she’s not really menacing enough, nor scary enough and certainly does not have the edge Catwoman has. Mr. Cash, the first banker attacked, as...
